Email hello@postcodeplus.co.uk. If it's about a particular code, include the code (for example BS20 7XY ABC).
What is a Postcode Plus code?
A UK postcode plus three letters you choose, such as BS20 7XY ABC. Outside the UK, the postcode is replaced by a country code and an area code that the app works out from the pin, such as CV Q6LU ABC in Cape Verde. Either way it points to one exact spot, such as a gate, door or pitch, with directions and a photo. Anyone you give the code or link to can open it.
Making a code
- Tap Create a code.
- Tap Use my location, or drag the map until the pin is on the exact spot.
- In the UK, check the postcode: the app fills in the nearest one, which isn't always yours. Elsewhere, the area code is set by the pin, so there's nothing to check.
- Choose three letters, or tap the dice for a suggestion. If they're taken, try others.
- Add directions and a photo, then save and share.
To stop spam, only a few codes can be made from one place each hour. If you see "Too many codes created from here recently", wait an hour and try again.
Changing or deleting a code
On the phone or browser you made it with, go to the home screen, find it under Your codes on this phone and tap Edit. Delete this code is at the bottom of that screen. Deleting removes the code and its photos straight away.
After you save a new code, you can copy your edit link. Keep it somewhere safe: opening it in a web browser lets you edit the code from another device, or after reinstalling the app or clearing your browser.
Lost both the phone and the edit link? Contact us with the code and we'll help.
The private second photo
The "once they arrive" photo (for example where to leave parcels) is private unless you choose otherwise. The normal link doesn't show it. After saving, use Share private link, or open your code and tap Copy private link, and send it only to people who need it.
"Use my location" doesn't work
- iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Postcode Plus → While Using the App.
- Android: Settings → Apps → Postcode Plus → Permissions → Location → Allow only while using the app.
- Website: allow location when your browser asks, or in its site settings.
You can always place the pin by hand instead: zoom in and drag the map.
Adding a photo doesn't work
Postcode Plus needs permission to use the camera or your photos. On an iPhone that's in Settings → Postcode Plus; on Android, Settings → Apps → Postcode Plus → Permissions. Photos are shrunk before they're sent, so large ones are fine.
Report a code
If a code is offensive, misleading, or shows your property without your permission, tap Report this code at the bottom of its page, or email us with the code. We'll look at it quickly, and we remove codes that break the law or are abusive.
